Athena & Sword Small Coin Charm Pendant

The helmeted head of Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare, radiates intelligence, courage and protection. Wearing a finely detailed Corinthian helmet, she symbolised the perfect balance of strength and wisdom, qualities that made her one of the most revered deities of the ancient Greek world.

The reverse depicts a sheathed sword suspended by its strap, a striking symbol of military readiness, honour and disciplined power. Beneath it appears a boukranion, or ox skull, a sacred motif associated with ritual sacrifice and devotion to the gods. Together, these carefully chosen emblems reflect the close relationship between civic authority, military strength and religious tradition in the Hellenistic world.

This coin was struck at Kaunos, an important harbour city on the Carian coast of south western Asia Minor, during a period of shifting political alliances following the campaigns of Alexander the Great. Situated between the Greek and Anatolian worlds, Kaunos prospered through trade while preserving its distinctive cultural identity.
